Day 6 - Saturday 20th March - The First Furrow

Today we went down to the village to do a wash. there is a public washing machine in the bunk house which takes 4 quid for a wash and there is a tumble drier too (£1 for 20 mins). This is good because getting things dry in the static is a challenge! While it was whirring, we charged Lenny the Leaf. It is so simple, you just plug it in and press start. 1 hour later we had enough free power to drive around the island (230 miles of range) and to power the caravan for several days - even with the fan heater!

The EE mast was down all day so no signal at all and consequently no wasted time catching up on whatsapp jokes! It was stressing me though - I dont like not having signal!

I got on and started digging the first strip for the foundations of the garage. I was very pleased with myself. A perfect strip but I would find out later it was a costly mistake.

Our neighbours arrived with a wheel barrow full of amazon prime deliveries! Slightly embarrassing!! They live at the bottom of our drive so it’s not far and they needed to walk their mutt. Amazon prime is a godsend on the island. It takes about 5 days but it is free. Everyone uses it. The deliveries included a 25 litre water carrier which will hopefully avoid us filling hundreds of wee bottles up from the tap in the village. That is where we get clean water from.

And again we remembered the end of day shot….
